Background: Considering the creation of a serene and tranquil home environment for both the child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other family members, the aim of this study was to explore the impact of personalized home modifications on children with ASD. Methods: Conducting a scoping review until June 2023, we systematically identified relevant literature on home-based modifications for children (3-18 years) with ASD using PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Our comprehensive search in databases (PubMed, Cochrane, ScienceDirect, Scopus), emphasizing interconnected concepts, yielded 6022 articles. After a meticulous selection process, we narrowed down to 23 pertinent articles, including reviews until June 2023, contributing a nuanced understanding to this field. Result: Home-based modifications, including behavioral, sensory, and technology interventions, are prevalent, enhancing the quality of life for ASD children and promoting independence. The study emphasizes the need for tailored living spaces and advocates further research on technology and architectural design in home settings, providing valuable insights for healthcare professionals and caregivers. Conclusion: Creating a safe home for children with ASD is essential. Modifications enhance their quality of life. Future research on architecture, interventions, and technology integration within home settings for children with ASD could be beneficial. | ||
