چکیده | ||
Background. Learning involves relatively enduring changes in behavior that result from experience. The sensory system would receive and process the information which was obtained from the individual experiences and can prepare the information for the other neuro-psychological aspects of learning. The steps and styles of learning on the one hand and sensory processing on the other hand may or may not be related as gears in the learning clock mechanism. Objective is to obtain the potential correlation between the learning steps and learning styles of Kolb with the sensory processing patterns of Dunn`s model. Methods This was a correlational study that all undergraduate Occupational therapy students of the rehabilitation faculty at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (SUMS) in IRAN were recruited and filled 2 questionnaires of the Kolb Learning Styles Inventory and the Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile in the year 2018. Out of 83 questionnaires, 62 of them were included. The data was examined by descriptive and analytic statistics using SPSS23 software. Results We found no significant correlation between Kolb`s Learning Steps and Learning Styles with Dunn`s Sensory Processing Patterns in Iranian Occupational Therapy students in total (p-value>0.05). Moreover, there is a correlation between low registration and preferred learning steps among female students (p-value=0.003). Conclusion Based on the results, there isn’t correlation between learning steps and learning styles with sensory processing patterns but the results might be correlated according to the gender of participants specially in low registration sensory patterns. | ||
