| Introduction: In recent years, organizational innovation is one of the essential components for third-generation universities. This study aimed to examine organizational innovation and identify its barriers and facilitating factors in the faculties of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. Methods: In this descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study, data from 94 employees and faculty members of three faculties of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in 2022 in Shiraz, Iran were examined. The Innovation Climate Questionnaire-Persian version was used. Descriptive statistics and Spearman's correlation test were utilized. Results: Out of 94 participants, 33 percent were male, and 67 percent were female. Among the seven dimensions with the Likert scale, "Professional relations at the university" obtained the highest score (3.51±0.97), while "Measuring innovation" received the lowest score (3.13±0.87). In terms of the four percentage areas, "Involvement" had the highest score (63.67±24.84), while "Idea-Time" had the lowest score (34±21.27). The mean for "Foreseeing" was reported as 3.50±0.94. A significant negative correlation between age and "Idea-Support" (rs=-0.531, p=0.003), as well as between working experience and "Idea-Support" (rs=-0.387, p=0.034). Conclusion: This study identified key facilitators and barriers to organizational innovation at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, with strengths in professional relations and involvement, and weaknesses in measuring innovation and idea-time. The findings suggest the need for structured innovation evaluation, protected time for idea development, and targeted managerial support to strengthen innovation and support the university’s transition toward a third-generation university. | ||
